Maurice E. Ramsey, 90, of South Hutchinson, died Feb. 2, 2011, at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson.
He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Peabody, Kan., the son of Hiram R. and Della M. Mulvaney Ramsey.
He attended school in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1939.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He farmed for several years at Russell before moving to Hutchinson in 1968, where he worked for many years at Cessna Fluid Power until he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 in Hutchinson.
Maurice married Margaret Solbach on Nov. 29, 1942, in Russell. They were later divorced. He then married Martha L. Erwin on Jan. 7, 1979, in Wichita. She died May 15, 2003.
Survivors include: daughters, Karel Ramsey of Topeka, Janis Rodriguez and husband Jerry of Denver, Colo., Tresia Dodson of Oxford, N.C., and Patricia "Pat" Fischer of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Aileen Weide of Las Vegas, Nev., and Roberta Keil of Galatia, Kan.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frances Ramsey, of Great Bend.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gable Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Fort Riley, Kan. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
