Maurietta J. Patterson (Hagaman), 99, of Hutchinson, Kan., died Oct. 4, 2011. She was born June 21, 1912, to Fred and Abbie Hagaman, at Tyrone, Okla.

On April 1, 1934, she married Frank Patterson in Ulysses, Kan. While she and Frank lived in Copeland, Kan., Maurietta was active in the Methodist Church, was a leader for Theta Rho Girls Club, an 80-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and served on several state Lodge committees. She and Frank made a point to attend the graduations and weddings of the grandchildren and participate in many family reunions. She actively pursued the hobby of genealogy and shared her wealth of family history with many relatives. They were both active in the Farmers' Union and traveled to Washington D.C. for conventions. Maurietta was a leader on the Oddfellows sponsored U.N. Youth Pilgrimage trip to New York City. In 2004 she moved to Wesley Towers in Hutchinson.

She is survived by: children, DuWayne (Janice) Patterson of Hutchinson, Kan., Carol (Vern) Hedrick of Derby, Kan., Fred (Trini) Patterson of Hutchinson, Kan.; sister-in-law, Lila Hagaman of Liberal; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. She is predeceased by: her parents; her husband of more than 68 years; and five siblings.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Copeland Cemetery, with Pastor Scharleen Cross officiating. Her register book will be available to sign from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Wesley Towers Foundation or Hospice House of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.
