Maurine Martin's Obituary
Maurine Martin, 91, died Aug. 1, 2009 at St. Paul, Minn.
She was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Gordon, the daughter of Romie E. and Edna E. Stage Barnes.
She was the financial secretary at her church and later worked as secretary for the math, physics and chemistry department at Macalester College in St. Paul. She also found time to be a good mom.
She belonged to Macalester Presbyterian Church and was the first woman to hold the position of Church Elder.
On Feb. 24, 1939, she married Harlan R. Martin. He died Oct. 12, 2005.
Survivors include: son, Brad, St. Paul, Minn.; daughter, Margaret Jessen and husband Peter, St. Paul, Minn.; brothers, James Barnes and wife Ruth, Mesa, Ariz., and Clyde Barnes, Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Michael and Dameon; and two great grandchildren, Jack and Olivia.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling with the Rev. Seth Svaty presiding.
