Max Benson Miller, 59, loving father, husband and friend, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson.
He was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gerhig's Disease, in March 2005 and died of complications related to the disease.
He was born June 22, 1947, on a farm between Oakley and Scott City, the son of Fay Clark and Hazel Inez Benson Miller. He was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Scott Community High School in 1965 and Fort Hays State University in 1970. He was a retired business systems analyst for Agris Corp and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson.
On Aug. 15, 1970, he married Margo Marie Rupp in Scott City. She survives.
Together the couple had a son, Brandon, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Tamara, Eagle, Colo.; and a daughter, Meagan, a student at Kansas State University, Manhattan. They also survive.
Other survivors include: four brothers, Roy, Tom, Larry and Marvin Miller; a sister, Marilyn Streets; a son-in-law, Jeff Hopp; a daughter-in-law, Jamie Miller; a grandson, Kohen Benson Miller; six brothers-in-law; and 10 sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, and a funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the guest book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In care of Elliott Mortuary, memorials may be sent to Hospice Care of Reno County or the ALS Association Keith Worthington Chapter.
