Max Tyson Montgomery, 91, died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Cedar Vale, Kan., the son of Max and Ethel (Hefner) Montgomery.
He was a Navy veteran, serving in WWII from 1943 to 1946. Max was a retired carpenter and job superintendent of housing and commercial buildings in Hutchinson and surrounding cities in Kansas for over 50 years.
Survivors are: son, Chuck and wife Lynn of Hutchinson; longtime companion, Joan Bontrager of South Hutchinson; sisters, Alice Stone of Wichita, and Anna May Burriss of Amarillo, Texas; a niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James Bradford Montgomery.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson presiding. Inurnment with Navy Honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with family present from 1 p.m. to service time Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
