PLEVNA – Max D. Snay, 83, died Sept. 4, 2014, at Leisure Homestead in Stafford, Kan. He was born July 22, 1931, in Plevna, Kan., to Hadley and Gladys (Withroder) Snay.
Max graduated from Plevna High School. He was active in the National Guard before enlisting in the United States Army, serving two years and later re-enlisted with the National Guard a second time. He was a member of the Sylvia United Methodist Church and was on the board of the Sylvia Co-op. He farmed and raised livestock all of his life in the Reno County area. On Nov. 1, 1953, he married Norva Beneke, in Nickerson. Survivors include: his wife, Norva of the home; daughter, Iona Rockwell (Dennis) of Hutchinson; sons, Kevin Snay (Susan) of Olathe, Kan., Kyle Snay of Fontana, Calif.; grandchildren, Alisha Rockwell, Derek Rockwell, Trevor Snay, Heather Snay, April Snay, Lindsey Snay; brother, Dwight Snay (Helen) of Thomas, Okla.; sisters, Karen Snay, Plevna, and Lana Foster (Gary) of Abbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Joyce Beam and Reverend Harry Graves presiding. Burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday through Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
