Max Wayne Sutton, 77, died August 25, 2026, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 6, 1949, in Hutchinson, to John D. and Elma F. (Smith) Sutton.

Max graduated from Buhler High School in 1967; he attended Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a stock tank solderer at Farmland Industries for over 15 years; he also worked at Deluxe Specialties, Collins Bus, and Dillards. Max also worked part time for Service Master for over 34 years. He enjoyed collecting records and listening to music, his favorite band was “The Who”. Max enjoyed watching sports, especially the Las Vegas Raiders and KU Basketball. He and his wife, Donna, would often attend local dirt stock car races to support his brother and nephews. Max always took pride in keeping his cars immaculately clean. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Hutchinson.

On June 26, 1971, he married Donna L. Kroeker, in Buhler. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Max is survived by: his wife, Donna of Hutchinson; daughters, April (Nicholas) Thompson of Overland Park, Jenni Sutton of Rohnert Park, CA; granddaughter, Savana Sutton of Santa Rosa, CA; sister, Diane Kauffman of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Janice (Greg) Silbernagel of Minnesota; brother-in-law, Richard (Billie) Kroeker of Hutchinson a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved cat, Kitty.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Aaron Wade Sutton; brother, Larry Sutton; brothers-in-law, Ray Kauffman and Robert Kroeker.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at First Congregational Church, 3410 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sign the book, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday until the day of the service, at Elliott Mortuary.
