Maxine Gradall, 92, of Hutchinson died Nov. 13, 2010, at Hutchinson Care Center.
She was born September 20, 1918 at Hopewell, the daughter of Henry O. and Edith Poindexter Smith.
She attended school at Trousdale and graduated from Trousdale High School in 1937. A Hutchinson resident since 1957, moving here from Pratt, she worked for Bankers Investment and later Kansas Farmers Service, both as a secretary and an insurance agent. She also worked for years taking minutes at the Reno County Commissioners meetings.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Wesley Weds Sunday school class and United Methodist Women, both of the church. She also belonged to the Kansas Authors and Writers Assn. and the Kansas Women's Insurance Assn.
She married Orlen C. Gradall on Oct. 17, 1937, at Stafford. He died Oct. 3, 1988.
Survivors include: Jeanie Bartlett (William) and Linda Tobias, all of Hutchinson; a sister, Jean Fenton, Whittier, Calif.; two granddaughters, Natasha Willm and Karisa Tipton, both of Hutchinson; two step-grandsons, Jerry Bartlett (Annika), Sweden, and David Bartlett, Manhattan; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. The burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Farmington Cemetery at Macksville. A visitation will be Wednesday 3 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
