Obituary

Maxine L. Hippen, 92, died Nov. 9, 2010, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.

She was born July 14, 1918, in Neola, to William R. and Cora M. Marcum Smith.

She was a Hutchinson resident since 1937, moving here from Neola. She was retired from Carey Salt Company. She was a member of First Christian Church and Women of the Moose #982.

On March 28, 1937, she married Ernest H. "Ernie" Hippen in Turon. He died Dec. 20, 1996. Survivors include: sons, Doug Hippen and wife Rochelle, and Marlow Hippen, all of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Cecelia Vogel Hippen. She was the last to survive of her 14 brothers and sisters.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in Fairlawn Cemetery, with Pastor Todd Schlosser officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will be closed.
