Maxine L. Martin, 87, of Hutchinson, died September 30, 2011 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.
She was born December 12, 1923 at Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of
Orville & Matilda Pauline Schuler Starner.
Maxine attended school in Eureka,
Kansas. She retired from Hutchinson Hospital after 23 years working in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD).
Maxine was a member of the Westside Baptist Church and was active in the "Harvesters" Sunday
school class.
Maxine married Luther Paul Elvin Martin on July 18, 1939 in El Dorado, Kansas. He died January
28, 1980.
Survivors include Bill J. Martin (Ginger), Donna L. Cole (Meredith) of Hutchinson; Rita J. Pellerin (Joseph), Texas City, Texas, Gary L. Martin (Lila), Overland Park, Larry E. Martin (Linda), Lawrence, and Mary E. Benson, La Mesa, Calif.; 2 brothers, Wilbur O. Starner, Hutchinson, and Ferrel W. Starner, Buhler; 12 grandchildren 12great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Max Martin; a brother, Cleo L. Starner; a sister, Mary E. Bosler; a great granddaughter, Haley Renee Cole; and 3 sisters-in-law: Hazel Starner, Jewel Starner, and Peggy Starner.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at Westside Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Adrian presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be Saturday, 1:00 pm-9:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am-9:00 pm, with the family greeting friends on Sunday from 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm at Elliott Mortuary.
