Maxine Ione Wallace, 88, died April 17, 2012, at Sweet Life Assisted Living, Shawnee, Kan.
She was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Roy O. and Dolores Williams Shannon.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1942. Maxine worked at the Nekoma State Bank, Nekoma, Kan., and then for Security Pacific, formerly Bankers Investment, from May 1968 until retiring in 1985. After her retirement, she worked at the Kansas State Fair for several years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Duo Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit #68, all of Hutchinson. She was also a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rush Center, Kan. Maxine was a resident of Hutchinson from 1968 to 2010, when she moved to the Kansas City area.
On April 28, 1946, she married Charles E. Wallace in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died Feb. 8, 2009.
Survivors include: two granddaughters, Tanya L. Honderick, and Tara L. Smith and husband Tad, all of Shawnee, Kan.; great-granddaughter, Tyler Delia Smith; brothers, Richard Shannon of Rancho Murieta, Calif.; and a sister, Patricia Robb of Cleveland, Minn. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Honderick and son-in-law, John Honderick; and five brothers, Gordon, Gene, Terry, Larry and Jerry Shannon.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jim Rhaesa presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in La Crosse City Cemetery.
