Nellie Maxine Wintamute, 97, of Hutchinson, died November 13, 2021, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. She was born June 29, 1924, in Larned, to Albert and Ella (Nulf) Johnson.

Maxine attended Dodge City High School. She was a homemaker as her children grew up and later worked as a clerk for Self Serve Drugs and Katz Drug. Maxine liked to read and spend time with her dogs and grandchildren.

On September 9, 1942, she married Warren Wintamute, in Jetmore. He passed away July 29, 2012.

Maxine is survived by: son, Richard "Dick" Wintamute (Karon "Jeannie"), Inman; daughter, Sherry Ellis (Mick), Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Warren Wintamute; sisters, Pauline Bott and Wanda Lawrence; brother, Albert "Bud" Johnson; and great-grandson, Corey.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.
