Melissa Vieyra, 58, passed away and went to be with the Lord entered into Heaven on July 10, 2015, at University of Colorado Hospital, Denver, Colo. She was born June 2, 1957, in Hutchinson, to Daniel V. and Sarah (Razo) Vieyra.
She was a 1976 graduate of Hutchinson High School, parish member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson and retired from Dillons in 2013 after 28 years of service. Melissa was no stranger to the Bingo Hall, she enjoyed playing and attending with family weekly. She volunteered annually at the NJCAA tournament, and Porky's at the Kansas State Fair. Melissa loved her family especially her two grandchildren and was willing to assist them in anyway. Her smile and laughter filled the room. Melissa's love for her family and others will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: companion, Hugo Velazquez of Hutchinson; son, Leo Velazquez of Wichita; grandchildren, Andres Velazquez of Wichita and Emelia Velazquez of Hutchinson; parents, Daniel V. and Sarah (Razo) Vieyra of Hutchinson; siblings, Anthony Vieyra, Melinda and Richard Aleman, Alex Vieyra, and Vince Vieyra, all of Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Louis Chavando and Bibiana (Velasquez) Vieyra and Juan and Tranquilina Maria (Marquez) Razo.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Deacon Gabe Greer. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
