Melvin Lee "Bucky" White, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 5, 2012, at Hospice House in Hutchinson.
He was born Sept. 10, 1931, the son of Thomas Ephraim and Rena Dorothy Neuenschwander White.
He graduated from Kingman High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Air Force beginning in 1952. He had worked in the aircraft industry, farmed, and retired as owner/operator of Big Valley Transport, a grain hauling company, but he considered his family his greatest accomplishment and blessing.
On Nov. 30, 1952, he married Betty June Kemp at Kingman, Kan. She passed away on Sept. 23, 1967. Two later marriages ended in divorce.
He is survived by six adoring daughters, Judy Parsons and husband Richard of Hutchinson, Sherry Rinke and husband Mike of Kingman, Nancy Swain and husband Tom of Bushton, Sandy Campbell of Yuma, Colo., Carolyn Goering and husband Mark of Pretty Prairie, and Brenda Meyer of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include: his sister, Mildred White, and sister-by-choice, Inez Schindler, both of Kingman. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Paul Eugene White.
A graveside service celebrating his journey to his heavenly home will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman, Kan. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.
