Obituary

Melvin J. "Bud" Ellis, 80, died July 3, 2007, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Florence, the son of Ted J. and Lillian Leon Ellis. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1943. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was a retired staff sergeant for the United States Marine Corps, and then had worked for Cargill Salt retiring in 1989.

He attended Eastwood Church of Christ.

On July 3, 1964, he married Bobbie N. Boshears in Nowata, Okla. She died March 8, 1999.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lisa Marcum, Hutchinson, and Bobbie Koerner, Topeka; two brothers, Jim, Florida, and John Daniel, Marion; two sisters, Lois Reed, San Antonio, and Sue Hanson, Medicine Lodge; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, and two sisters.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Ernie Bishop presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by the United States Marine Corps.
