Obituary

Melvin H. Yoder, 86, of Hutchinson, died June 23, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. He was born December 14, 1935, in Hutchinson, to Harry and Barbara (Helmuth) Yoder.

Melvin owned the Fairview Service Station with his brothers, Albert and Lloyd. He loved working there and continued to do so as long as he possibly could. Melvin loved his customers and had great rapport with many of them. He also enjoyed Royals Baseball and taking vacations to Colorado. Melvin was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church.

On June 5, 1960, he married Orpha Miller in Hutchinson. She passed away November 16, 2020.

Melvin is survived by: children, Starla and husband Kelly Latimer of Idaho, and Ronald Yoder of Texas; brother, Harry and wife Treva; sister, Katie Hetzler; brother-in-law, Ivan Miller and wife Emma, all of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Zeke Yoder, Josiah and wife Megan Latimer, Noah Latimer and fiancée Cassidy, Lydia Latimer, Priscilla Latimer, Aleiah Latimer, and Levi Latimer.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Orpha Yoder; infant son, Robert Dean Yoder; sister, Emma Mae Yoder; and brothers, Albert and Lloyd Yoder.

Funeral will be 9 am Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Plainview Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the church.
