Obituary

Menno Nisly, after suffering a stroke, died peacefully at Hospice House in Hutchinson on January 22, 2016, at the age of 86.

Born December 29, 1929, the son of Samuel A. and Delilah Beiler Nisly, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Jonas, sisters, Amanda Yoder, Rebecca Bontrager, Mary Nisly and Katie Helmuth, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He is survived by: sister, Emma Stutzman; and brother, Melvin Nisly, both of Hutchinson.

On May 21, 1950, he married Edna Yoder. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2010.

Menno was a devoted husband and father to seven children: Grace, married to Leo Madonna of Oklahoma City, Okla., J. Samuel, married to Brenda Stoltzfoos of Redding, Calif., J. Arthur, married to Lillian Miller of San Salvador, El Salvador, Central America, J. Harold, married to Judith Troyer of Partridge, J. Marvin, married to Rosa Zook of Hutchinson, Hope, married to Richard Kramer of Hutchinson, and J. Arnold, married to Judy Yoder of Hutchinson. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Menno was a dedicated Christian and charter member of the Center Amish Mennonite Church in rural Hutchinson.

In 1956, he founded Nisly Brothers Trash Service, from which he retired in 2004.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Center Amish Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the West Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Pilgrim Christian School, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
