Mercedes Woolsey, 91, died Oct. 24, 2015, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. She was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Roxbury, the daughter of Lloyd and Daisy (Nirider) Warner.
She graduated from Roxbury High School in 1942. Mercedes was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, ceramics, and gardening, especially her flowers. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Family was everything to her. She will be greatly missed.
On Oct. 18, 1944, she married Thaine Woolsey in Roxbury. They shared 71 years of marriage. He survives. Other survivors include: sons, Dennis Woolsey (Cindy) of Hutchinson, Terry Woolsey (Anne) of Wichita; granddaughter, Rose Woolsey of Merriam; grandson, Tim Woolsey (Janet); and great-grandson, Vaden Woolsey, all of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Rosemary Dodson; and brother, DuWayne Warner.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Dixie Voss Anders officiating. Entombment will follow at the Fairlawn Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
