Merritt "Bubba" Roland Wright, 71, of Haven, died June 9, 2023, at Premier Living in Wichita. He was born October 21, 1951, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Lester and Annie (Hess) Wright.

Merritt graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1970. He worked at Haven Steel Production for 28 years and then Underground Vaults and Storage for 16 years. Merritt was the world's #1 Chiefs fan and a beloved member of the Haven community. He was a member of Haven Baptist Church.

On October 12, 1974, he married Sandra Jo Stutzman, in Haven. They shared 48 years of marriage together.

Merritt is survived by: wife, Sandy Wright, Haven; daughter, Sarah Wright, Haven; son, Adam Wright, Haven; grandchildren, Issac Jackson and Clayton Wright; sisters, Cheryl Smarsh, Cheney, Kandy Bevan (Kent), Cheney, Penny Miller (Roger), Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: father, Lester Wright; mother, Rebecca Jones; grandparents, Nellie and Merritt Hess; and parents-in-law, Mary Jane and Floyd Stutzman.

Memorial service will be 10:30 am Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Haven Baptist Church. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 8 pm Friday, June 23, with family present from 5 to 7 pm at Elliott Mortuary.
