Mike Bishop, 62, of Hutchinson, passed away at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, on Aug. 12, 2011.

He was born July 28, 1949, in Hutchinson, the son of Lawrence F. and Doris May Hummel Bishop Jr.

Mike graduated from Hutchinson High School, held an Electronics Degree from HCC Vocational School, and a certificate from Berean Bible Academy. Mike was a member of First Assembly of God Church, was retired from the Hutchinson Army National Guard as a Sgt., following 20 years of service. He also worked for Reno County at the landfill.

Survivors include: his Dad, (step-mother, Dorothy); a brother, Larry (Betty) Bishop, Arlington; a sister, Gina (Gary) Harts, Independence, Missouri; a first cousin, Richard Hummel, Wichita; and two nephews, Jeff Bishop, Hutchinson, and Christopher Harts, Independence, Mo.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Bishop, and his grandparents.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Paul Thurston presiding. Inurnment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honor Guard. A register book may be signed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
