Michael 'Mike' Strayer, 73, died November 10, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born July 9, 1946, in Hutchinson, to John C. and Cora F. (Avery) Strayer.

Mike graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964.  He served in the United States Army National Guard from 1966 to January 1972.  Mike was with the 346 ^th Military Police Company serving as a Specialist.  He retired from Cessna/Eaton, as a machinist, after 43 years of service.    Mike was a computer 'nerd', enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a past member of the Eaton Gun Club. He loved the Lord and was a member of Victorious Life Church, Hutchinson.

On July 4, 1965, he married Penny Lynn Porter at First Christian Church, Hutchinson.

Mike is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Penny of Hutchinson; sons, Ron Strayer of Lawrence, Ryan Strayer and wife Sheryl of Overland Park; brother, John Strayer and wife Effie; sister, Betty Macgirvin and husband Emery, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jacob Strayer of Lawrence, Lauren Strayer of Overland Park, Savanah Sellers of Kansas City, MO; and Jacob's mother, Bobbi Van Asselt Strayer of Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place.  Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Victorious Life Church, 1200 E. 10 ^th , Hutchinson, with the Reverends Craig Dilbeck and James Francis officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.  Memorials may be made to Victorious Life Church or Roca Blanca Mission Base, Oaxaca, Mexico, (this is the non-profit organization Mike and Penny worked with for 17 years),  in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
