Michael “Batman” Tyler Tharp, 31, of Hutchinson, died September 26, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 20, 1995, in Fort Polk, Louisiana, to Melissa (Tharp) Jaquez.

Michael graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 2014 where he met his lifelong best friends. He attended trade school where he learned how to become a propane technician. Michael attained his Commercial Driver’s License and worked for Bridgman Oil for ten years as a fuel handler, line installer, and propane hauler.

On April 18, 2015, Michael married his high school sweetheart, Anna “Gabi” Ceniceros. They shared 11 years of marriage before his death and 14 years of laughter together.

Michael enjoyed video games in his free time. His favorite games included Skyrim, Witcher, Anno, and city building games. He had an eye for detail and used his skill to organize and deep clean vehicles. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking and grilling. Michael could grill a mean steak and make a delicious spicy ramen. His love language was feeding others.

Above all, Michael loved being an awesome dad and husband. His greatest joy in life was simply being with his family. He made sure they knew they came first in everything he did.

Michael is survived by: beloved wife and best friend, Anna “Gabi” Tharp of the home; adored and loved daughters, Emalene and Amelia Tharp of the home; mother, Melissa (Mark) Jaquez of Larned; and grandparents, Patricia “Pat” and Michael “Mike” Tharp of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his: brothers, Carlos “Babbas” Tharp and Marcos “Marky” Burrola-Jaquez and great-grandparents, Rosemary and John Brown.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W 12th Ave, Hutchinson, with Pastor Chris Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign his book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Michael’s family requests you come as you are. Whether that means a three-piece suit or your most comfortable clothes, the same way you come to Jesus, come join them and celebrate Michael’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Haven Baptist Church for the Michael Tharp Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main Hutchinson, KS.
