Mildred E. Benson, 87, died Sept. 23, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
She was born June 13, 1921, in Nickerson, the daughter of Clive J. "Bud" and Thelma A. Redburn Cunday. She graduated in 1939, from Nickerson High School, and attended Hutchinson Community College. She was a homemaker, and for a short time was a cook at Mitchell School.
She belonged to Mitchell United Methodist Church, W.S.C.S. of the church, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with her family.
On Aug. 17, 1941, she married George A. Benson in Nickerson. He died Jan. 10, 2007. Survivors include: two sons, Gary, Wichita, and David and wife, Barbara, Sterling; two daughters, Cheri Jones and husband, Don, Hutchinson, and Marci Stowell, Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Russell Guthrie.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Guthrie, a brother, Dale Cunday, a sister, Opal Wooden, and two infant brothers.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Mitchell United Methodist Chapel, with Pastor Nancy Proffitt presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
