Mildred Louise Harper, 79, died March 4, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She
was born April 6, 1934, in Sterling, to Lewis and Bertha Mathews Carris.
She was a 1952 graduate of Sterling High School. Mildred retired from Eaton Corporation after thirty
years. She was a member of Sterling Presbyterian Church, Salem Community Church of the Brethren
of Nickerson, Sterling Saddle Club, Country Woman's Group, Silver Thread of Sterling and
Hutchinson Kennel Club.
On Dec. 23, 1968, Mildred married Bobby G. Harper in Coldwater, Kan. He survives. Other survivors
include: children, Dale Harper and wife MaryAnn of Wichita, Vivian Winter and husband Gary of
Inman, Kenny Grant Harper and wife Susan of Wichita, Saundra Harper of Wichita, Debbie Braum and
husband Gerald of Harrison, Ark., Bobby George Harper and wife Tammy of Wichita, Kenny Ray
Harper and wife Anna of Alpna, Ark., Connie Barney and husband Ron of Wichita; sister, Elizabeth
Kendle of Richmond, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren,
and her faithful dog, Sugar. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bonnie Harper;
brother, Leslie Carris; and her dog, Cuddles.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Salem Community Church of the Brethren,
with Pastor George Hinton presiding. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum,
Hutchinson. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
