Mildred R. "Mickey" Hewerdine, 87, died Jan. 18, 2007, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers.

She was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Fairfield, Ill., the daughter of Lewis and Susan Young Caldwell. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a former nurses' aide and was on the kitchen staff at Hutchinson High School.

She belonged Bethany Church of the Nazarene.

She married Ogie Pennington. He died in 1959. She later married Ero Hewerdine. He died June 30, 1983.

Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Byard, South Hutchinson, and Marty Dole, Hutchinson; two brothers, Hosa Caldwell, Sims, Ill., and Lewis Caldwell, Jr., Decatur, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tish Ewing, and Shad Byard; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, James and William Caldwell, two sisters, Alice Caldwell and Annis Henson, and a great-grandson.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Darrell Bisel presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
