Mildred Irene Porter, 90, died Jan. 28, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Hanston, Kan., to David "Todd" and Matilda E. (Hubin) Miller.

She married Earl W. Porter on Sept. 29, 1940, in St. John. He died Sept. 6, 1986. Mildred earned the title of Mother of the Year in 1969. She was a member of The Corner Stone Baptist Church. Survivors include: three sons, Richard A. Porter of Hutchinson, David Porter of Ooltewah, Tenn. and Larry Porter of Waldo, Ark; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Lester and Elmer Miller; and sister, Edna Rose Gayler.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Larry Wedel officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
