Millicent M. "Millie" Nye, 72, died March 13, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Winfield, the daughter of Paul Gregg and Lucille Adams Morris. A Hutchinson resident for over 42 years, she graduated from Winfield High School in 1950 and from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, 1954. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to South Hutchinson Mennonite Church and was active with church organizations.
In June 1957, she married James Taylor DeGarmo in Winfield. He died June 27, 1972. On Feb. 27, 1976, she married George M. Nye in Hutchinson. He died Dec. 22, 2005.
Survivors include: a son, Gregg DeGarmo, Hutchinson; three daughters, Ann House, Dana Goble and Lisa Simon, all of Lawrence; a brother, Michael G. Morris, Kansas City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Frenya, Matthew Goble, Michael Goble, Brandy DeGarmo, Kylie DeGarmo, Daniel DeGarmo, Benjamin DeGarmo and Aaron Simon; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Riley DeGarmo. She is also survived by George Nye's sons and their families.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Frenya.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Highland Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas.
