May 22, 1935 – February 6, 2019
Milton Haugsness, 83, of Hutchinson, went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2019, at Pleasant Hills Assisted Living.
He was born on May 22, 1935, in Kelly, Kansas, one of 12 children of Severre John and Lillian Haugsness. Milton was a resident of Hutchinson since 1957. Milton attended school at Saints Peter and Paul, Seneca, until the 8th grade.
He is survived by: his wife, Rosa Mae of 20 years; six children, Cynthia, Seneca, KS; Michael (Andrea) North Richland Hills, TX; John (Kim) Hutchinson; Beth (Larry) Wichita; Bryon (Sara) Hutchinson; Greg (Kristin) Spring Hill, KS; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Brannan, Topeka, Margaret Albers, Lincoln, NE, Karin Reilly, McDonough, GA; and brothers, William Haugsness (Betty), Kansas City, MO, Richard Haugsness (Mary Ann), Seneca, Larry Haugsness (Jan), Las Vegas, NV.
Milton belonged to St. Teresa Parish, Moose Lodge #982, and was a Fourth Degree Knight.
Milton was a man of many talents and gifted himself to anyone who needed help. Milton spent his life as a Fuller Brush salesman, dairy helper, International Harvester assembler, and he worked for Decker and Mattison in Hutchinson, insulating many homes in Kansas and Nebraska, before he became a sheet metal journeyman and installed furnaces and air conditioners. In his later years, he was a RCAT driver for Reno County in Hutchinson and enjoyed transporting the TECH clients. Milton was preceded in death by: his first wife, Louise Haugsness; three brothers; and two sisters.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., all at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Hutchinson, with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Milton's visitation will coincide with his son, John's visitation. John died February 7, 2019.
