Miriam Casteel, 70, died on Aug. 8, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.

She was born on April 12, 1941, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Winfield Scott and Mable Clarice Swearingen Whitesell.

She graduated in 1959 from Neosho High School. On April 12, 1963, she married Edward Leonard Casteel in Kansas City, Mo. He died April 17, 2000.

She was a retired sheet metalist for Boeing. She attended Crossroads Christian Church in Hutchinson and also Colonial Heights Assembly of God in Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Shelby; sister; Revae Muskgrove; and a brother, Paul Whitesell.

Survivors include: son, Timothy Casteel and wife Sharon of Derby, Kan.; daughters, Venia Garrison and husband Stanley of Desoto, Kan., and Wendy Mullins and husband Kevin of Hutchinson, Kan.; grandchildren, Tabitha, Nathanael, Caleb Casteel, Candice, Reuben, Isaac, Jedidiah Garrison, Jessica Sheridan, Kenyun, Ficher, Merik Mullins; brothers, Kenneth Whitesell and wife Rebecca of Mexico City, Mo., John Whitesell and wife Virginia of Joplin, Mo., Jesse Whitesell and wife Becky of Carthage, Mo.; sisters, Twila Millender and husband Fred of Sand Springs, Okla., Esther Masters and husband Leon of Webb City, Mo.; brother-in-law, Charlie Muskgrove of Carthage, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Crossroads Christian Church, 4310 N. Monroe, with Pastor Wayne Pittman presiding. Burial will be in El Paso Cemetery, Derby, Kan., following the service at 3:30 p.m., with Pastor Jonthan Hollis presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Christian Church or Colonial Heights Assembly of God Church, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
