Morris "Joe" Shelley, 81, died August 20, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 30, 1931, to Doctor Decater and Alice Conelia West Shelley in Randolph, TX.

He graduated from Randolph Texas High School in 1949 and went into the Army, where he retired in 1976. Later he went to work at Cargill Salt Company.

He married Janice L. Balsmeier on July 26, 1986, in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Steven Shelley, Hutchinson; stepsons, Mike Childs, Hutchinson, and Mark Childs, Edmond, OK; brother, Johnny Shelley, Boham,Texas; sisters, Jean Howay, Texas, Dorothy Rigsby, Spivey, Texas, Shirley Webb, Tom Beam, Texas, Barbara Tingle, Duncanville, Texas, and Betty Shaw, Sherman, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be September 2, 2012, at Jan's Beauty Salon, 29 South Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
