Muriel Ruth Thode, 90, of Hutchinson, died Monday, December 2, 2019. She was born May 9, 1929, at Plevna, to Lloyd Glenn and Minnie Pleasant (Gantz) Hill.

She was a 1947 graduate of Plevna High School and 1951 graduate of Emporia State University. Muriel was a teacher of music, English, psychology, and a homemaker. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Omega Literary Society and Kappa Kappa Iota.

On June 3, 1951, she married Ralph Cecil Thode at the Huntsville Church. Her husband, Ralph of 68 years, survives. Other survivors are: children, Alan of Lawton, Oklahoma, Andrew of Hutchinson, Arlis Schmaltz and husband Daryl of Gallup, New Mexico; brother, Grant Hill and wife Betty of Hutchinson; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Joel; daughter, Ann Bearden; and siblings, Lawrence Hill, Frances Hester, Mildred Service, and Velma Fox.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory Chapel.
