Myrth E. Hollingsworth, 84, died May 3, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1929, in rural Rice County, to George Henry Theede and Pearl Katherine (Josephson) Theede. She graduated from Reno County High School, Nickerson in 1947. Myrth earned her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics Food Demonstration from Kansas State University, graduating in 1951. She lived in Nickerson for over 30 years. She married Donald Wayne Hollingsworth on June 15, 1952, at Midland Church in rural Rice County. He died August 30, 1983.

Myrth was a homemaker and caregiver her entire adult life. She raised a family as well as cared for many others in her community. She was an excellent cook and always seemed to have every family member's favorite dish at family gatherings. Myrth also worked outside the home for 33 years at Grace Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital. After retiring she volunteered for many organizations including T.E.C.H and the Union Valley FCE.

Myrth leaves an example of a faithful servant, dedicated worker, and patient and compassionate friend. Survivors include: two daughters, Marilyn Davis (Sam), Hutchinson and Monica Hendershot (Stan), Pratt; three sons, Marshall Hollingsworth (Annette), Shawnee, KS, David Hollingsworth (Betty), Hutchinson and Douglas Hollingsworth, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Myrth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, C.J. Theede and granddaughter-in-law, Joni Hollingsworth.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Willard Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Per her request, her casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the register book from 9-9 Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 6-8 Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
