Nancy Ruth Burns Jaehde, 72, died Nov. 21, 2016, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born June 21, 1944, in Wichita, the youngest daughter of Virgil Howard and Myrtle Blanche (White) Burns.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1962, and from Grace Nursing School in 1965. Nancy lived and worked in Kansas City and several other cities before finally landing in Emporia to pursue her master's degree in Library Science. She later received her Ph.D. from San Jose State University at San Jose, CA, and then taught at USC. Nancy then returned to Kansas, continuing to teach online classes.
Nancy enjoyed watching golf, the food channel, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially during the holidays.
She married Darell Dean Jaehde on Nov. 30, 2004, in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 19, 2009.
Survivors include: brother, John Burns and wife Claudia of Travelers Rest, SC; brother-in-law, Merle Buckless of Virginia; sister-in-law, Peggy Burns of St. Louis, MO; stepdaughters, Lois Andereck and husband Bob of Lakewood, CO; Ann Menzies of Wichita, Barbara Stone of Hutchinson, Sandra Strand and husband Randy of High Ridge, MO; seven step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Patricia Buckless; and brother, Howard Burns.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Dec. 2, 2016, at Pleasant View Home Chapel, Inman, with Chaplain David Denlinger presiding. Inurnment will be in Bean Cemetery, Little River, at a later date. Friends may greet the family following the service at Pleasant View Home, Inman. Memorial contributions may be made to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
