Nancy Teed Shears, 82, died Dec. 13, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born June 1, 1932, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Albert Schermerhorn and Lillian (Slavens) Teed.
A lifetime Hutchinson resident, Nancy graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950, attended Smith College, Northampton, Mass., from 1950-1952, graduated from the University of Kansas in 1954, and was a 1973 graduate of the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo.
Nancy retired in 2010, following a 33-year career with the First National Bank as Senior Vice-President of Marketing, Community and Public Relations.
Nancy served as past chairman and board member of the Hutchinson Salvation Army, the Board of Trustees at Wesley Towers Retirement Community, was a member of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas Children's Service League State Board of Directors, and the Kansas Bankers Association Marketing Committee. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, and at KU she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Her survivors include: daughter, Ann DeNunzio and husband Albert of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Shears of Fort Worth, Texas; four granddaughters, Lillian, Frances, Eleanor and Grace DeNunzio; nephew, William C. Hudlow III, of New Orleans; and a goddaughter, Laura Meyer Dick of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tom; and a sister, JoAnn Hudlow and her husband Bill.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Grace Episcopal Church, Hyde Park Drive & Main St., with The Right Rev. Michael P. Milliken officiating. Inurnment will be in the Church Garden Columbarium. Friends may sign the register book at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, the Salvation Army or Cause for Paws, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
