Nathan Lee Parson, 29, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, as a result of an automobile accident in Marion County. He was born March 21, 1987, in Hutchinson, the son of L.W. and Carolyn (Buchanan) Parson.
Nathan graduated from Buhler High School in 2006 and Hutchinson Community College in 2008. He earned his Animal Science degree from Kansas State University in 2010. While at Buhler, Nathan volunteered for YouthFriends and Reins of Hope. He was active in the FFA Chapter, serving as president during his senior year. Nathan was a part of the livestock judging team and was in the Thomadora 4-H club.
Nathan loved working outside and was accomplished in his work with animals. He had a special talent for working with horses. Nathan also enjoyed leather crafting and was the proud owner of Parson Custom Leather. Nathan was currently working in Ramona, Kan., at Cow Camp Feedlot and Ranch. He attended CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson.
Nathan is survived by: his parents; brother, Garrett and wife Melissa of Maize; sister, Lisa of Hutchinson; nieces, Livvie and Gemma; and nephew, Owen. He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Bob and Martha Buchanan of Kingman, and Livvie and Ina Parson of Aurora, Mo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Paul Thurston presiding. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. till the service Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
