Nelda M. Herbison, 88, died Jan. 20, 2008, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Sterling and Pearl Burge Miller. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a cook for Trinity Catholic Junior and Senior High School, Holy Cross Catholic School, the Hutchinson Town Club and the former Leonida's Hollywood Grill.
She belonged to the St. Teresa's Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society.
In 1934, she married James "Pete" Herbison. He died Jan. 19, 1983.
Survivors include: a son, Michael, Hutchinson; three daughters, Kathy Leffel, Oklahoma City, Teresa Collier and Betty Rae Herbison, both of Hutchinson: four sisters, Juanita, California, Joyce, Washington, Dorothy, Holyrood, and Thelma, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Green; and two brothers, James and Clyde.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mennonite Manor Chapel, South Hutchinson, with Pastor Jimmy Naccarato presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
