Nellie G. Douglas' Obituary
Nellie Geraldine "Gerry" Douglas, 92, died Dec. 12, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1915, in Colwich, the daughter of Arthur L. and Laura E. Givens Beer. She was a 1935 graduate of Hutchinson High School. A Hutchinson resident for most of her life, she was retired from American Investors Life Insurance Company.
She belonged to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Order of Eastern Star No. 464 Silver Leaf Chapter, and American Business Women's Association.
On Jan. 1, 1933, she married Dale C. Douglas in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 13, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Virgil D., El Cajon, Calif.; six grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Letha Beverly Ann Enfield, and two brothers, Leonard and Mount-Ervin Beer.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hutchinson, with Bishop Robert Thomas and Richard Knapp presiding. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be sent to New Beginnings Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
