Nellye G. Drake, 80, died Sept. 7, 2007, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Wilburton, Okla., the daughter of William Otis and Maude Ann Detty Harris. She graduated from Sylvia High School and attended Sterling College. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a teacher's aide, working for various schools and retiring from Winans Elementary School.
She belonged to Mitchell United Methodist Chapel, the Hutchinson Iris Club and the United Methodist Women.
On July 15, 1951, she married Norlis E. Drake in Sylvia. He died July 16, 1973.
Survivors include: three daughters, Linda Drake, Hutchinson, Julie Strickler and husband, Tom, Iola, and Nancy Goble and husband, Leroy, South Hutchinson; a brother, Kenneth Harris, Kansas City; three sisters, Peggy Long, Hutchinson, Billye Brennan, Sylvia, and Sharon Hall, Sylvia; and six grandchildren; Kimberly, Scott and Jordan Strickler, and Brady, Brittany and Casey Goble.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Harris; a nephew, Daniel Hall; and a niece, Amber Martin.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Mitchell United Methodist Chapel, with Pastor Nancy Proffitt presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Memorials may be sent to Mitchell United Methodist Church or the Hutchinson Iris Club, both in care of the mortuary.
