Nelson M. Lee, 66, died December 29, 2016, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born July 22, 1950, in Arthur, Illinois, to Menno and Lydia (Schrock) Lee.
Nelson was an auctioneer since 1977. He loved livestock auctions and could be seen almost every week at Central Livestock in South Hutchinson. Nelson enjoyed coffee with his friends and teasing those around him. He was a devoted grandpa and enjoyed everyone with whom he came into contact with throughout the day. Nelson was a member of Maranatha Mennonite Church.
On November 24, 1973, he married Janice Nisly in South Hutchinson. They recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. She survives.
Other survivors include: daughter, Sonya Caley (Brandon) of Hutchinson; sons, Stephen Lee (Audrey) of Hutchinson, Shawn Lee (Amy) of Overland Park; grandchildren, Colin and Avery Lee, Declan, Connor, and Lachlyn Caley, Braxton, Brody, and Grayson Lee; sisters, Katie Leatherman of Delaware, Lois Borntrager and Tillie Miller, both of Mississippi, Gertie Beachy of Virginia, Martha Balsley of Indiana, Barbara Smith of Florida; brothers, Levi Lee of Mississippi, Norman Lee of Indiana, Albert Lee of Mississippi, and Ed Lee of Alabama; and in-laws, Mary and Raymond Nisly of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Emma Beachy.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Maranatha Mennonite Church, 3115 Blanchard SW, Hutchinson, with Pastors Paul Nisly and Chad Eigsti officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
