Nelson Morgan's Obituary
Nelson Morgan, 90, died Sept. 26, 2005, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Feb. 5, 1915, in rural Hutchinson, the son of William James and Ida Bensheidt Morgan. He was a 1932 graduate of Hutchinson High School and a 1936 graduate of Kansas University. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, he was vice president of Western Foods, retiring in 1982 after 45 years of service.
He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. He was a Summerfield Scholar at the University of Kansas and a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society.
On April 6, 1940, he married Betty Myers in Hutchinson. She died May 1, 1999.
Survivors include: a son, Larry, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Diane O'Sullivan, Hutchinson, and Elaine Wilbur, Shawnee; a sister, Esther Anderson, Montreal, Canada; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Melvin Walton presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Summerfield Scholarship Program at the University of Kansas, in care of the mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501. Personal condolences may be sent to www.elliottmortuary.com.
