Obituary

Nila J. Showalter, 77, died Nov. 24, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Aug. 19, 1930, Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of William D. and Harriet E. Martin Norris. A lifelong resident of Hutchinson. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in the class of 1947. She was a baker at the Hutchinson Town Club and later at Furr's Cafeteria.

She belonged to New Hope Baptist Church, and was a member of, Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 1550, Hutchinson.

On Sept. 14, 1962, she married Leemont W. Showalter, Hutchinson. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Eugene Balsmeier, and his wife Debbie, Blackfoot, Idaho, Jim Showalter, and his wife Patti, Enid, Okla., two daughters, Janice Shelley and her husband Joe, Hutchinson, Linda Anne Dorris and her husband Paul, Dardanelle, Arkansas, one sister, Nadine Redinger, Hutchinson, 20 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, and two great- great- granddaughters; and her loving pet, Precious.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Balsmeier, and two brothers Kreston Norris and Keith Norris and one sister Blanche England.

There will be no formal funeral services. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
