Nola Marqurite Louise Willis Charter, 89, died April 8, 2006, at Hospice House. She was born to Walter Daniel and Blache Almira Mathias Willis on Dec. 24, 1916, in Wherry, Rice County, Kan.
She married Orville Leone Charter on April 9, 1939, in the First Christian Church, Nickerson, Kan. He died March 6, 1989.
She is survived by daughters, Twila Charter of Bastrop, Texas, Nona Lowrey of Hutchinson; and a son, Walter Charter, Sanford, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Gale Willis, Seattle, Wash.
Preceded in death by sisters, Nona Cook Mawbray, Dixie McIlrath and Marjorie Bartels; and a brother Duane Willis.
She was co-owner and operator of Charter Oil, Abbyville. She was also employed at Wiley's and Self Service Drugs.
She was a member of the Centennial Needle Club, Fairview Church Community, Green Thumb Garden Club, charter member of Salt City Quilling Club and a member of Christ's Bible Church, Nickerson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 12, 2006, at Christ's Bible Church, Nickerson, with Pastor David R. Landis presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, Christ's Bible Church or Hospice of Reno County, all in care of the funeral home.
