Nola May Rumsey, 73, of Hutchinson, died Dec. 16, 2010, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born July 14, 1937, in Hutchinson, Kan., to John William and Ella May Wells Currie.


She was a 1955 graduate of Buhler High School. She was CNA certified. She was a retired E.R. Clerk for Hutchinson Hospital, a receptionist for Dillon Living Center, and recently began working as a cashier at Salvation Army. She was a Christian and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

She married William Earl Rumsey Dec. 25, 1956, in Hutchinson. He died Feb. 14, 2004. Survivors include: children, Debra May "Debbie" Howard and husband, Steve of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Lisa Rose Young and husband, Jason of Plevna, and William Lynnwood "Bill" Rumsey and wife Shannon of Rogers, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, Jay Avery and wife Chanda, Jon Avery, Matthew Howard, Kaci Rempe, Tasha Miller, Toni Young, Sami Young, Lindsey Miner, Logan Rumsey, Blake Canter, and Blade Canter; and seven great-grandchildren, Triston, Jordan, Kelby, Korbin and Cayden Avery, and Lane and Leah Howard; numerous nephews and nieces including: Pam Currie and her children, Shelby, Tristen, and Dylan of Topeka. She was preceded in death by brothers, John Currie and Bob Currie, and nephew, Dan Currie.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Elliott Chapel in Hutchinson, with Pastor David E. Green officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
