Norma J. Baird, 88, died May 6, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence. She was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Plainville, Kan., to Reverend Carmie and Arabelle (Boyll) Roll.
She graduated from Belleville High School in 1945. Norma made her home in Hutchinson until her retirement in 2004, when she moved to Lawrence. Norma was an active member of First United Methodist Church while in Hutchinson.
She married John Gordon Baird on April 2, 1951, in Hutchinson. He died Feb. 19, 2008. Survivors include: daughter, Linda Frost and husband Victor, Lawrence; her sons, Ted Baird and wife Kate, Lawrence, and Jim Baird and wife Joan, Overland Park; grandchildren, Sarah Frost, Kayla Wellbery, Emily Baird, Mary Baird, Dan Baird, Hannah Baird, and Olivia Baird; and one great-granddaughter, Ryann. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen Weaver.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jeff Slater presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2015, at Brandon Woods Retirement Center in Lawrence.
