Norma Jean Darrah, 85, of Hutchinson, died March 15, 2018, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born July 25, 1932, in Sterling, the daughter of William Allen and Vera Belle (Reynolds) Coonfer. Norma Jean graduated from Lyons High School in 1950. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for Lyons Manufacturing and Lyons State Bank. After moving to Hutchinson, Norma Jean worked as an executive assistant at KWIK Shop Corporate offices. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rainbow Girls, and P.E.O. Chapter HQ, of which she was a Golden Girl.
On May 20, 1951, Norma Jean married Robert Wayne 'Toby' Darrah in Gulfport, MS. He died February 21, 2012.
She is survived by: children, Kay L. Pedersen of Hutchinson, Dr. Mark W. Darrah (Karen) of Hutchinson, and Jill S. Darrah of San Diego, CA.; grandchildren, Ali Brimblecom, Michael Pedersen, Erica Henion (Josh), and Briana Courtright (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Easton, Cohen, and Maelynn Henion, Celia Mae and Lila Courtright; sisters, Irene Six (Fr. George) of Hendersonville, NC, and Darlene Perrigue of Jacksonville, FL; special niece, Taige Haines, niece Dana Shrader; and many other nieces and nephews.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Interment will follow in Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Friends may call from 12 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family to receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Reno County, Trinity United Methodist Church, or the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
