Obituary

Norma M. Schmidt, 76, of South Hutchinson, died Jan. 8, 2012, at Mennonite Manor.

She was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Greensburg, the daughter of Howard and Isalone Harrison Ricketts.

She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1951. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Springfield, Mo., where she and her husband lived prior to moving back to Greensburg. She was a member of the Eastern Star. After the Greensburg tornado, they moved to South Hutchinson.

Norma married Irvin R. Schmidt on Oct. 1, 1951, in Wichita. He survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Melinda Nachtrab and her husband David of Clearwater and Debra Hoover and her husband Chuck of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dale Ricketts, Bill Ricketts and Jack Ricketts; and a sister, Neva Mesel.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Mennonite Manor Chapel, South Hutchinson. A private family inurnment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery at Greensburg. A register book may be signed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
