Norma "Jean" Kirby Sheppard, 78, passed away June 24, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. Jean was born September 19, 1931, in Leavenworth. She was the daughter of George and Edna Tetlinski Garnett. In 1951, she married William L. "Bill" Sheppard in Leavenworth. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Moore.

Jean leaves a legacy of Christian faith and love to her family of three children, Sharon Walker and husband Boyd of McPherson, Mike Sheppard and wife Kathy of South Hutchinson, and Sue Sachse and husband Richard of Easton; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2010, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 East 30, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, with the family to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
