Norman E. Kightlinger, 89, died Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was born in Yuma, Arizona November 1, 1922, the son of Fayette and Mamie Centgraf Kightlinger.
He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College, a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, served during World War II, a member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, 40/8. Norman purchased Kightlinger's Lumber and Hardware from his grandfather in 1946 while serving in the war and continued to own and operate it until 2001.
He had been married to Mary Fletcher, they divorced. He and his wife of 41 years, Beverly J. Ginn, were married January 22, 1971 in Medford, Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Mike and wife Sandy, Hutchinson, Sally Cavins, Norman, Oklahoma, Mona and husband Don Manley, Lincoln, Nebraska, Christopher, Frisco, Texas, four grandchildren; Marti and husband Steven Trotter, Jenni Razo, Tim Razo, Gary and wife Jessie Cavins, five great grandchildren; Marissa Trotter and Jarrod Trotter, Summer Cavins, Aaron Cavins and Caton Cavins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Elliott Chapel with Reverends Richard Brooks and Roy Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park with military honors conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Reno County or Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
