Norman L. Stofer, 90, died Oct. 28, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Concordia, to Benjamin T. and Opal (Parks) Stofer.
Norman graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Norman was a member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #982. He was a retired salesman.
Norman married Idanel Williams Sept. 10, 1943, in Hutchinson. She died May 23, 1978. On Sept. 1, 1988, he married Mary Ann Thayer. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Steve Stofer of Burlington; daughter, Dale Ann Johnson and husband Bob of Olathe; stepdaughter, Janice Jones and husband Dale of Wichita; stepson, Dennis Bammer and wife Debbie of McPherson; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Bill and Larry Stofer.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Getting officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hospice House or Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
