Odessa M. Cooper, 103, a long time resident of Hutchinson, died Jan. 6, 2014, at Hospice House. She was born July 10, 1910, in Coleman, Texas, to George K. and Dora N. Taylor Jay.
On Jan. 31, 1935, she married Silas J. Cooper in Ottawa, Kan. He died May 26, 1986.
She was a homemaker most of her life and a mother to her two children. Later, she retired from Wiley's Department Store after having worked in the children's department and in customer service for several years.
Survivors include: son, Merrill C. Cooper of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Marilyn (Larry) Deemer of Spokane Valley, Wash.; grandchildren, Vincent (Christine) Cooper, Cynthia (Frank) Blankenship, Justin Deemer, Sarah Cooper; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Cooper, John Cooper, Rylan Cooper, and Josh Blankenship. She was preceded in death by her husband; seven brothers; and six sisters.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Reverend Tyler Vance presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
